Dr. Rajiv Saini, Chief Scientific Officer of H2Ocean, delivered an invited lecture to highlight the importance of sea salt based mouthwash in reducing oral side effects caused by cancer treatment at UTRGV Cancer Conference

The conference opened with remarks from Dr. Subhash Chauhan, Professor and Chair of the Department of Immunology and Microbiology and Director of the South Texas Center of Excellence in Cancer Research, and Dr. Ecerado Cobos, Dean and Professor of Medicine and Director of the Cancer Program at UTRGV. Both highlighted the importance of collaborative, research driven approaches to addressing cancer health disparities. The symposium featured a distinguished lineup of speakers from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, leading cancer hospitals, and other key research institutions who addressed critical themes in cancer research and health equity. Sessions explored molecular mechanisms of cancer progression, tumor microenvironment biology, immunological pathways, community engaged prevention strategies, translational oncology models, and survivorship care frameworks aimed at improving long term quality of life.

Dr. Rajiv Saini, Chief Scientific Officer of H2Ocean, delivered an invited lecture on managing oral complications (chemo mouth) associated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The presentation discussed inflammation, epithelial injury, microbiome disruption, and infection risk linked to cancer treatment. Dr. Saini also addressed the biological rationale of sea salt derived minerals in supportive care, explaining how these minerals supports osmotic balance, assist inflammation modulation, epithelial stability, and plays a role in antimicrobial activity and tissue recovery.

H2Ocean exhibited at the conference with an educational booth showcasing its sea salt based supportive care products formulated to help address oral complications and skin related side effects of cancer therapy. The booth facilitated scientific dialogue with oncology professionals, and product samples of Healing Rinse Mouthwash were distributed to healthcare providers and cancer researchers for evaluation and educational purposes. Eddie Kolos, Inventor and CEO of H2Ocean, attended the event and engaged directly with faculty and medical leaders throughout the symposium.

The conference also featured an extensive research poster session where faculty, trainees, and investigators presented new findings in cancer biology, prevention strategies, immunology, and survivorship research. H2Ocean appreciates UTRGV’s continued leadership in advancing cancer research and improving supportive care for diverse patient populations.
