How to Care for Your Face Tattoo During the Healing Process

Given that face tattoos are not always at the top of the list of places to get a tattoo, little may also be known as to how to properly care for them in the healing process. After getting a tattoo, it will need proper care and attention so that it will heal optimally. Here are some tips to helping the tattoo heal so it will not lead to an infection and look great for years to come:

Step 1: Apply a Protective Covering

After getting the tattoo, a protective covering should be placed over it for 24 hours. This will help protect the skin and not expose the raw skin to additional trauma. After this time, the covering should be removed.

Step 2: Wash Your Hands

Before touching the tattoo or applying any type of ointment, a person needs to wash their hands. This will help keep the germs from getting on the body and making a person sick. While this may seem simple, many people forget to wash their hands before touching their new tattoo.

Step 3: Clean the Tattoo Properly

A special way to clean the tattoo is using Blue Green Foam Soap. It will get rid of plasma and blood that has collected on the skin. Once a person applies this on the skin, they should rub it in and then wash it off using warm water. The tattoo can be dried gently with a wet paper towel.

Step 4: Apply Ointment

After a person gets a face tattoo, they need to apply ointment to it to help with the healing process. H2Ocean’s Aquatat ointment should be applied two to three times each day and is specially designed to care for healing tattoos.

Step 5: Avoid Scratching

When a tattoo is healing, it is going to itch. A person should never scratch the tattoo though. This is one of the worst things they can do to a new tattoo. This can lead to infection and may even remove some of the details or colorings.

Step 6: Avoid Pools, Oceans, and Hot Tubs

While the tattoo is healing, a person should not go into the pool or the ocean. Hot tubs are off-limits as well. A person can still shower but they need to be careful. Shampoo should be avoided on the tattooed area.

The face tattoo should not be exposed to direct sunlight while it is healing. If a person does go into the sun or they work outdoors, they should cover the tattoo with loose clothing. Using an SPF of at least 45 which is designed for use with new tattoos is also helpful. We recommend H2Ocean’s Surfers Choice SPF 50 Spray for its easy application and water resistance.

Step 8: Use an All-Encompassing Aftercare Kit

The best way to cover all your bases when caring for a new tattoo while it’s healing is using an all encompassing kit. H2Ocean’s Extreme Tattoo Care kit will help it heal quickly and naturally. It will lock the ink into the tattoo. It includes a care card and all of the specifically designed products that you will need to cleanse and nourish your tattoo to preserve quality.

By taking the proper care of a tattoo, a person will allow it to heal quickly and keep it looking great for years to come.

H2Ocean started with one simple idea:
Use unrefined Red Sea salt to heal with the minerals the body actually needs to repair.
23 years ago, that idea began in the tattoo and piercing industry.
Since then, it has expanded into the medical field and mainstream care for everyone.

Fair question. And no, this isn’t some random mouthwash hype.
I’ve tried a lot of mouthwashes and most of them just burn and dry your mouth out. Healing Rinse doesn’t do that. It’s gentle, helps with moisture, and actually feels good to use. That’s why I stick with it.
