The Tattoo Cleaning Process. When it comes to tattooing there are a number of important things to keep in mind when it comes to tattoo aftercare, especially when it comes to avoiding any fading or scarring on the skin.
Proper hygiene is very important and ensures that the healing process of your own skin after getting tattooed is optimal. Unhygienic inflammation can be avoided by following some basic guidelines. Tattoo care starts in the tattoo shop. Make sure that the tattoo artist is sterile and hygienic. Protective gloves and clean equipment are just as important as a clean environment. Ask your tattoo artist in advance before tattooing what to look for in tattoo care during and after tattooing.
Tattoo Aftercare
First, keep the initial protective covering on for about 2-3 hours. When you come home for the first time with your new tattoo, you should never jump in the shower. The first time you take a shower, gently clean the tattoo with H2Ocean’s Blue Green Foam Soap and water using your fingertips or hand, do not scrub it. Before you touch or clean the tattoo, always make sure that your hands are clean. If you keep your hands clean, you do not have to be afraid of getting infections.
After showering dab it dry (do not rub), then apply H2Ocean’s Aquatat Ointment as soon as the skin is completely dry. A healing ointment keeps your tattoo clean and glowing and should be used within the first few days. You can also use H2Ocean’s Ocean Care Cream which keeps the skin moist and relieves itching.
And again, never rub the spot too hard, otherwise you will interfere with the healing process. Apply the cream with your hand and spread it lightly over the whole area. You can repeat this process a few times a day. For example, use the cream after the morning shower, sometime at noon and before going to bed.
After about a few weeks your tattoo should have healed. After healing there may still be a scab in some places. If this is the case, you should be careful and never scratch it, so you don’t ruin the tattoo. If you have a scab just leave it alone.
To prevent premature fading, you should always protect the tattoo with sunscreen before going outdoors, we recommend H2Ocean’s Surfer’s Choice SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray. You should also avoid using any sun tan lotion until the tattoo is fully healed.
During the healing process of your tattoo, you should try to avoid getting any shampoo or soap on the tattoo when showering or bathing because of the harsh chemicals which could delay the healing process. Also stay away from the ocean, pools or hot tubs during the healing process.
If you follow these tattoo aftercare guidelines you will be well on your way to showing off your new ink to the world!
